We had an incredibly vibrant Meet the CEO breakfast meeting with Mohit Kapoor, CEO at Bamburi Cement, where sustainability took center stage. Our Executive Director, Laure Paugam did a brief introduction on Mohit's seasoned career and sustainability in the construction industry, setting the stage for Mohit's enlightening presentation.
Mohit Kapoor delved into Bamburi Cement's journey towards sustainable practices, highlighting their merger with Lafarge to form HOLCIM and their steadfast commitment to championing sustainability. He outlined the company's seven sustainability pillars, ranging from climate and energy to sustainable procurement, to nature and biodiversity. Mohit shared their initiatives, from reducing their carbon footprint to investing in renewable energy. They also promote biodiversity by rehabilitating a 350 acre quarry in their Mombasa Cement plant into Bamburi Haller Park.
Attendees were captivated as he elaborated on their sustainability efforts, including recycling construction waste, empowering local communities, and embracing green technology like 3D printing in construction. The session underscored the importance of collaboration and innovation in driving sustainable change.
