2025 Leadership Talk #1- Leading in the Age of AI
Leveraging AI with a strategic approach will determine the success of businesses in the future.
Today, in our breakfast meeting, we explored how AI is reshaping leadership —from strategic adoption to ethical considerations and governance —in an interactive session led by Caroline Englund (Empactive Solutions) and Njeri Wagacha (Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc Kenya).
Key Insights include:
AI is transforming industries, but human skills remain irreplaceable —creativity, empathy, and judgment still take center stage.
Leaders must embrace adaptability over perfection , fostering a safe-to-fail culture that encourages innovation and a learning mindset.
Job security concerns? AI won't replace humans, but upskilling is key to staying ahead.
Ethical AI use is critical—we must verify information, safeguard data, and align AI strategy with company culture.
Fear of uncertainty—not change—holds people back. Leaders must communicate transparently, helping teams navigate AI adoption with confidence.
AI is shaped by data from the US, Europe, and China—there’s a growing need to Africanize AI. Organizations should adapt AI models to reflect local contexts, languages, and business environments.
Caroline Englund showcased generative AI tools and real-world corporate applications, while Njeri Wagacha led a case study on ethical AI use, where participants had an opportunity to outlined guiding principles for responsible adoption in their organizations.
Next Steps for Organizations:
Establish an AI use policy aligned with company culture and strategy.
Audit AI tools and data sources for security and compliance.
Foster AI readiness through training, workshops, and clear communication.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for this engaging discussion! Let's continue the conversation on leading with AI.
